Florida Statutes

These Statutes govern how all affairs are conducted for special Districts within the State of Florida, from qualifying as a Supervisor, meeting notice requirements, bidding limits and procedures, to all aspects of financing public infrastructure. Chapter 190, F.S. is the primary section related to CDDs but there are a variety of other sections (Chapters 120, 170, 197) that deal with various aspects of District business, administration, and financing.

Florida Commission on Ethics

The Commission also investigates and issues public reports regarding complaints against public officials, as well as issues publicly binding advisory opinions interpreting the ethics laws and implements the State’s financial disclosure laws.

Jimmy Patronis is the Chief Financial Officer for the State of Florida, and this department oversees the accounting and auditing functions and unclaimed property, monitors the investment of State funds, and manages the deferred compensation program and risk management program for the State, as well as handles insurance fraud and insurance consumer services including agent licensing. Polk County

You can search through this website to meet your governing officials, look up properties on the Property Appraiser’s website, check the status of your tax bill with the Tax Collector, learn how to qualify to run for a seat in the next general election on the website for the Supervisor of Elections, and be informed on any aspect of County government you choose.

Polk County Property Appraiser

To make it easier to navigate the County’s information, we are showing the Property Appraiser’s website separately. “This site provides access to Real Estate and Tangible Personal Property records with Geographic Information System (GIS) data.” This website also shows your current real estate tax bill and assessment information and allows you the ability to look up properties by owner name, address or parcel ID.

Polk County Tax Collector

Joe G. Tedder was first elected to the position of Tax Collector in 1996. He was originally administered the oath of office to serve as Tax Collector for Polk County, Florida on January 7, 1997. He was subsequently reelected to the position of Tax Collector in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012,  and 2016.

The mission of the Tax Collector’s office is “We are working to earn the public’s trust and confidence by providing the best in customer services, assured quality, and the efficient use of public funds.” Their vision is “To treat our customers with such professionalism and concern that we change their perception of government.”
